The Rug of My Dreams...
Doris Leslie Blau Gallery has partnered with Tommy Hilfiger and Nanette Lepore in the new Fashion Designer Collection, launching this month. All three original carpets, each signed on the back by its creator, will be auctioned off at the gala fundraiser with proceeds benefiting Gilda's Club Worldwide. Tommy Hilfiger's handmade rugs reflect the nautical roots his brand is known for, while Nanette Lepore's rug spotlights her trademark peacock feather design. "This collection is unique in that no other company has partnered with these two top designers to create a line of carpets," said Nader Bolour, president of the Doris Leslie Blau Gallery. "The new collection represents the marriage of interior design and home fashion."

But show-stopping rugs aren't so standard. Diane von Furstenberg, Vivienne Westwood and Nanette Lepore are just a few of the fashionistas doing the floor designs. Many have teamed up with the Rug Co., a London-based manufacturer known for carpets with a dollop of hip, while others are now offering rugs through their own fashion houses.

Not surprisingly, each stylemaker's signature look comes through in his or her carpets. Ms. Lepore's pretty, pastel peacock pattern resembles her ladylike clothing line.
